This week has been a very busy week for our 8th graders. We have practiced using shading pencils to give volume to our 3-D forms (cylinder, cone, cube and sphere) while working on value scales. We also learned how to use Prismacolor colored pencils, creating 3-D forms in analogous color schemes. Monday, we will be starting our "Beyond the Borders" project. See previous post for more details.

This week, we have reviewed some elements and principles of art and design as well as symbolism. We have continued our Self Portrait projects and have also learned a little about facial features and how to draw them!
This week, we have gone over the syllabus as well as established classroom expectations. We also have started our first project while learning about some elements of and principals of design such as Line, Value and Contrast. So far, students have created "Personal Inventory" lists of their interests or goals. Students who have finished the list have begun to visually depict these words by finding ways to draw examples of them. These "items" will go into a self portrait of each students to show what makes them the person they are! We look forward to seeing the finished product. The syllabus, as well as the project description are available below.
