This week, we have continued working on our Kandinsky oil pastels. Next week, we will learn how to mix the oil pastels with oil in order to turn our drawings into color rich paintings.

Students were introduced to the artwork of abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky. We talked about his Concentric Circles and learned how music can be visually reflected and represented by different lines, shapes as well as colors. This week, we began doing "Daily Warm-Ups" to get the creativity flowing at the very beginning of class. Student's have just a few minutes to create sketches answering the daily drawing prompt.
This week, we continued our "Exotic Environments" lesson reviewing some elements and principles of art and design. We have mainly been focusing on Value, Line and Contrast. Here are some student examples!
This week, we have gone over the syllabus as well as established classroom expectations. We also have started our first project while learning about some elements of and principals of design such as Line, Value and Contrast. So far, students have researched and drawn plants to incorporate into their "Zentangle" collage. We are excited to see how these "Exotic Environments" continue to develop!
