Students have recently started a super fun STEAM lesson! Students are drawing familiar cartoon characters and will be painting a sheet of transparency paper to create an "X-Ray" of the exaggerated bone structure of their cartoon characters. We are making connections to Science, while also discussing contemporary artist, Jason Freeny. We also were able to talk about how cartoons were originally made using layers of transparency paper. Students have just finished up their Portfolio Design projects! See some of the examples below. This lesson was on 1 point perspective.
For a quick "wrap up" project for this quarter, students created cut paper "Word Art". We discussed how paper cuttings became an artwork and how this technique transformed across the world. |
