This week, students have been creating their designs for their found object sculptures. After creating their Side A, Side B, Front and Top View sketches (to help them see their sculptures "in-the-round", students created a type "Blueprint" made to scale. Students are now finding objects that fit their design and a few students have even started building their sculptures. More photos to come!

This week in art, students learned about the differences between graphite and charcoal. Students worked on using their shading techniques with the charcoal to create still life's of various 3D forms. See their beautiful blending below! This week in art, students have been working on a "Mash-Up" project. This production assignment will involve students infusing or “mashing” two or more concepts within the visual arts together to create a new innovative artwork. Possible mash-ups can span different artists, time periods, media, and more!
The last week of the quarter has been JAM PACKED with art making! Students also finished their incredible dreams/nightmare scratchboard art. This project was inspired by Children's Author and Illustrator, Edward Gorey. Students have finished painting their Salt and Pepper shakers! This was part of our lesson on functional art. The past few weeks in art have been busy! Students have been building functional art (Ceramic Salt and Pepper Shakers), as well as starting their Scratchboard Art drawings based on dreams/nightmares. This week in art, students worked on creating album cover designs. After discussing what makes an album cover successful artwork, students had the choice of either creating their own original album cover or recreating one as their own in watercolor and other various media of their choice. This week in art, we finished our Album Cover Watercolors and have started working on our Functional Ceramics pieces (salt and pepper shakers). Resources are posted below.
This week in art, we introduced a lesson on 1-point perspective, 2-point perspective, as well as Surrealism. We discussed the history of the style and began sketching out rough drafts in perspective. Hello and welcome to art! This week, we will be going over the syllabus as well as preparing our portfolios for class. Please note the attached syllabus, as well as it's due date of January 12th. Students are also required to bring in an 8.5 x 11 or 9x12 sketchbook by the 12th for class.
